Police check report about incident between journalist, policeman

If there are video and photo recordings of the incident, they will very much help establish all the circumstances and the truth,” the official noted

MOSCOW, December 16 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow police check information about an alleged incident between an Ekho Moskvy correspondent and a policeman at the unsanctioned meeting that took place at Lubyanka Square on Saturday, a Moscow police press service official told Itar-Tass.

"We are interested very much in objective checking of the fact, and so, we ask media representatives to make an official statement to the police authorities to conduct a comprehensive inquiry," the source said.

"If there are video and photo recordings of the incident, they will very much help establish all the circumstances and the truth,” the official noted.

According to the preliminary information of police, the correspondent worked at the meeting without wearing a special jacket with the "Press" inscription. Such jackets are given by police to reporters to easily identify them at a mass event.
