MOSCOW, December 15 (Itar-Tass) —— About 700 people have come to Moscow’s Lubyanskaya Square, over 300 of them are media and bloggers, the Moscow police said on Saturday.
Earlier, oppositionist Sergei Udaltsov claimed about 5,000 participants in the rally.
“To avoid disputes about the numbers, press service of the Moscow police will give to all the media and public the elevation photographs to prove the numbers,” the police said.
The police are ready to stop the non-approved rally. “As the people refuse to leave, and the square cannot fit that many people, which threatens their security, the police will soon undertake measures to stop the non-approved event,” the Moscow police said.
During a non-approved rally in Moscow’s Lubyanskaya Square the police detained blogger Alexei Navalny, Leader of the Left Front Sergei Udaltsov and Ilya Yashin and anchorwoman Ksenia Sobchak, press service of the Moscow police said.
“They are detained for direct incitement to organisation of a non-approved rally,” press service of the Moscow police said on Saturday.
“Though the police warned repeatedly the rally is not approved, about 500 people came to the square, and at least half of those are reporters and bloggers,” the source said.
Itar-Tass correspondent reports the situation in the square is rather quiet now.
