MOSCOW, December 11 (Itar-Tass) — All members of the United Russia faction will be co-authors of the bill – Russia’s commensurate response to the Magnitsky Act that has been adopted by the United States, first deputy chairman of the State Duma international affairs committee from the parliamentary majority Vyacheslav Nikonov said at a meeting of the lower house of parliament on Tuesday.
According to him, members of the United Russia party have proposed to name this document in memory of Dima Yakovlev – Russia’s commensurate response to the Magnitsky Act that has been adopted by the United States, first deputy chairman of the State Duma international affairs committee from a two-year old Russian boy who died in Virginia after his adoptive American father locked him in a car in the full blaze of the sun, as well as in memory of the of all the Russian children who were killed or injured by their US foster parents.
“The United Russia faction in full strength will co-author this law,” Nikonov stated.
The document that is Russia’s commensurate response to the Magnitsky Act was submitted to the lower house on Monday by State Duma speaker Sergey Naryshkin and the leaders of all four Duma factions – Vladimir Vasilyev (United Russia), Gennady Zyuganov (CPRF), Sergei Mironov (A Just Russia) and Vladimir Zhirinovsky (LDPR).
The bill is to ban the entry into Russia for certain categories of American citizens “who have committed crimes against Russian citizens abroad, or involved in their commission, against US citizens vested with state authority, the actions or inaction of which helped persons who committed crimes against Russian citizens to avoid responsibility, against all those involved in the abduction and unlawful deprivation of freedom of Russian citizens, those who passed unfounded and unjust sentences on Russian nationals, and against those who unreasonably juridically persecute Russian citizens or who have made unjustified decisions against the legitimate interests of Russians and Russian organisations.”
