MOSCOW, December 8 (Itar-Tass) —— A Briz-M booster carrying the Russian telecommunication satellite Yamal-402 has separated from the Proton-M rocket.

“Nine minutes after the launch, at 17:23 Moscow time, the booster separated from the carrier rocket and continued to deliver the Russian satellite to the target orbit in accordance with the flight sequence,” a spokesman for the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) told Itar-Tass on Saturday, December 8.

The carrier rocket was launched from Baikonur at 17:13 Moscow time. The satellite is scheduled to be put into the target orbit at 02:28 Moscow time on December 9.

Yamal-402, made by French Thales Alenia Space and Russia’s Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems for Gazprom Space Systems, will carry broadcasts in Russia, Western and Central Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
