MOSCOW, December 5 (Itar-Tass) — The passage of the Russian Black Sea Fleet vessels through the Suez Canal to the Indian Ocean to combat pirates jointly with Pacific Fleet vessels has been cancelled. After making a call to Syria's Tartus port city for restocking, the Black Sea Fleet vessels will return to their bases, a source in Russia's General Staff told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
The source said only the Pacific Fleet task force would be combating pirates off Somalia in December 2012 and January 2013.
