Military police to be formed in Russian Armed Forces

“We are studying the experience of the countries, in the armies of which such structures exist," Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Valery Gerasimov noted

MOSCOW, December 4 (Itar-Tass) — A military police will be formed in the Russian Armed Forces,  Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Col. Gen. Valery Gerasimov said at a meeting with the military attaches on Tuesday.

“We are studying the experience of the countries, in the armies of which such structures exist. We will continue the formation of military police,” he noted.

Gerasimov set as an example the formation of a chief military police department in the central staff of the Russian Defence Ministry, as well as regional departments in the military districts. He voiced hope that “the work will be continued, a military police will be finally formed in the Russian Armed Forces.”
