VLADIVOSTOK, December 3 (Itar-Tass) — Sixteen inter-district specialized medical aid centers are to be established in Primorsky (maritime) Territory (PT). They will begin to operate in large populated areas next year, an official in the press service of the PT administration has told Itar-Tass.
PT Vice-Governor Irina Vasilkova said such a restructuring of the medical aid rendering system will enable physicians to provide specialized medical aid for the entire population of the PT. According to the kind of ailments, patients from districts which are given medical aid by the inter-district centers will have an opportunity to get hospitalized straight from home without additional prior consultations and examinations.
The vice-governor pointed out that a medical center of the Far Eastern Federal Univeristy (FEFU) will begin to operate in Vladivostok soon. It will be provided with a four-arm surgery robot which "weighs half a tonne and can perform most sophisticated operations on its own, with the human being acting in the role of operator. The robot incorporates the new technologies that help perform a most sophisticated operation with minimum injuries to the patient," Vasilkova said.
"The equipment to be supplied to the inter-district medical center is available only in several such centers of the country. Over here, the medical center will treat patients from all over the Territory. Special emphasis will be laid on the treatment of neoplastic diseases that are in their early stages," the vice-governor pointed out.
Vasilkova said the PT is among regions which implement the healthcare modernization programme best of all, and that, due to this, additional Federal resources have been allocated to the PT.
