MOSCOW, December 2 (Itar-Tass) —— A major fire has been put out in a shop at the plant of rubber technical products in Barnaul for about 20 hours, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told Itar-Tass on Sunday. No people were injured in the fire.
The fire broke out at 20:15 Moscow time on Saturday at a shop of the plant. The fire has spread quickly on up to 1,000 square meters at first, then the fire area exceeded 3,000 square meters. The fire was localized on the area of 3,200 square meters at 00:06 Moscow time on Sunday.
“The fire was reported to be extinguished at about 16:00 Moscow time on Sunday,” a source in the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
The firemen did not rule out that the late fire alarm call caused a sweepingly spreading fire. The fire alarm call came from the witnesses. “When the fire brigades rushed to the fire site, the black dense smoke was coming from the shop of the plant,” the main emergency situation department in the Altai Territory said.
It was reported at the official website of the plant that now the plant “is the largest modern chemical enterprise in the Altai Territory and the main producer of rubber technical products in Siberia and the Far East.” Such major enterprises as Russian Railways (RZD), the joint stock company Alrosa and the enterprises of the mining industry are among its partners.
