Rockslide kills miner in Obukhovskaya mine in Rostov Region

A special commission clarifies circumstances and causes of the incident

ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 2 (Itar-Tass) — A rockslide killed a miner in the Obukhovskaya mine in the Rostov Region.

Donbass Fuel and Energy Company" /DTEK/, which owns the mine, told Itar-tass that the incident occurred a night earlier during extraction of coal.

"The roof collapsed, and an excavator driver, born in 1976, was seriously injured. His life could not be saved," the company said.

A special commission clarifies circumstances and causes of the incident. DTEK’s management offered condolences to relatives of the deceased. The company will provide the family with all necessary assistance.
