Anastasia Petrik of Ukraine won children’s Eurovision in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, December 2 (Itar-Tass) — Ten-year-old Anastasia Petrik of Ukraine has won the 10th children’s Eurovision contest in Amsterdam with a song titled “Nebo” (the Sky) which she had written herself.

Anastasia Petrik was born in Odessa. She goes to school and takes vocal lessons. Her sister Victoria was second at the children’s Eurovision song contest in 2008.

Valeria Yevgalycheva, 13, who represented Russia under her stage name Lerika, was fourth. She had written her song “Sensation” herself.

Other participants included young talents from Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Georgia, Israel, Moldova, Sweden and the Netherlands. The first children’s Eurovision song contest for children aged 10-15 was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2003. The venue is selected by an organizing committee.

The Netherlands has been chosen as the contest’s venue for the second time. Rotterdam hosted it in 2007. Russia has been taking part in children’s Eurovision since 2005. A Russian duet, Anastasia Tolmacheva and her sister Maria Tolmacheva, won it in 2006.
