Vice-governor of Ulyanovsk Region dies in traffic accident

ULYANOVSK, November 30 (Itar-Tass) — The Ulyanovsk Region's Vice-Governor Nikolai Doronin died in a traffic accident in the Nizhny-Novgorod Region, the governor's press service confirmed to Itar-Tass. Earlier, it was reported by the Ulyanovsk regional government.

The accident occurred at the 73rd km of the Rabotki-Poretskoye road in the Sergach district at about 07:35 Moscow time on Friday, a source at the Nizhny Novgorod regional traffic police department said.

The driver in the Toyota Camry under the snowfall conditions lost control of the car when turning. The Toyota ran onto the other lane where it collided with a GAZ truck.

The car was on the way from the Ulyanovsk Region toward Nizhny Novgorod, the source said.

The driver and the passenger in the Toyota died on the spot.

In April this year, Doronin was appointed deputy government head and internal policy minister of the Ulyanovsk Region. Formerly, Doronin worked as deputy head of the Leninsky district administration in the city of Ulyanovsk and at the Ulyanovsk regional administration. He was a member of the region's legislature from 2008 to 2012. He was a member of the committee for budget, taxes and entrepreneurship.
