MOSCOW, November 29 (Itar-Tass) — The Syrian opposition will hold a conference in Rome on December 17-18, a representative of the National Coordination Committee (NCC), Haitham Al Manaa, told journalists on Thursday.

According to Al Manaa, the conference will involve over 30 movements, which represent the external and internal oppositions.

“We uphold an initiative by U.N./LAS Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi. We insist on convening the second conference, which would unite new forces,” the NCC coordinator said.

At the same time, the opposition leader said such conference should be based on new agreements.

“It is necessary to do everything possible to convince the opposition to resume talks, which should focus on measures to ceasing violence. It is our common task,” the NCC coordinator said.

In his words, the talks with the Syrian authorities are premature because at first it is necessary to stop bloodshed. “The talks will start when violence is ended,” Al Manaa said.

Commenting on the newly-formed National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, he said, “Every day we see anyone to say they are the unique opposition in Syria in the world.” “We are ashamed of because till now it is unknown who will represent the Syrian people. Talks are indispensable to change the political system because the Bashar Al Assad regime ran its course.”

In general, until Russia and the United States reach agreement on Syria, the country will not overcome the crisis, Al Manaa said, adding that the West’s position on the Syrian crisis only stirred violence in the country.
