GORKI, November 26 (Itar-Tass) — A state corporation may be set up on the base of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), the agency’s head, Vladimir Popovkin, told journalists on Monday.
After a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Popovkin said the meeting focused on measures to improve the personnel of the Space Agency’s central office.
“We do not rule out the creation of the state corporation on Roscosmos’ base,” the Russian official said.
Popovkin said, “Vice-Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin is instructed to give an assessment on the expediency, readiness and the need to create the state corporation.”
Rogozin told journalists, “An idea of creating the state corporation has not been given up. At the end of the first quarter of 2013 I’ll tell Dmitry Anatolyevich about the implementation of the ideas, which had been put forth earlier, including about the creation of holdings by workshop principles. Then we will determine if we need this state corporation or not.”
“We did not give up this variant. After discussions on all key aspects we will continue considering this idea,” the vice-prime minister added.
