GORKI, November 26 (Itar-Tass) — Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev does not rule out a lifelong ban to attend sports events for those involved in grave violence of law at stadiums.
The prime ministers called an administrative ban to visit sports events a “normal measure in all countries.”
“Perhaps for those who committed a crime right at a stadium an administrative ban may be even bigger, up to lifelong; anyway this ban may be bigger for those involved in a crime right at a stadium,” he said during a meeting with his deputies on Monday.
The prime minister said it is necessary that “a person involved in a grave violence realised that besides criminal responsibility he would be banned to attend sports events for a long time.”
“If somebody commits an act of hooliganism like the one at the stadium in Khimki and is sentenced to a realistic imprisonment – most likely the term would be no less than a year – as the criminal is released after the term, the time of his administrative disqualification would expire.”
“I do not think it is quite fair, as other people should not suffer as the person shows up at a stadium again,” the prime minister said.
“I am not insisting on the scheme itself, by I believe this is the case where an administrative ban may be more, and it should be calculated from the realistic service of punishment,” Medvedev said.
