KHABAROVSK, November 26 (Itar-Tass) — The rescue boat Rubin will survey the shore of the Large Shantar Island on Monday in a search for the crew of the dry cargo ship Amurskaya that sank in the Sea of Okhotsk, reported the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk sea rescue subcenter which is coordinating the search operation.
Wind velocity in the area of the Shantar archipelago on Monday is 17–20 metres per second; waves are 1.5–2 metres high; visibility is 10–12 miles; air temperature is nine degrees below zero (Celsius), and water temperature is one degree above zero. An intesive ice forming process is under way, reported Valery Remarenko, captain on duty at the subcenter.
For almost a month remains unknown fate of eight of the nine crew members of the cargo ship. The body of a sailor was found on November 9 as divers examined the vessel, which is lying at depth of 25 metres.
In search for the freighter, aircrafts examined more than 30,000 square kilometres of the territory, the Navy examined the 678 square kilometres of water area, and land groups – 365 kilometres of the coast in the Khabarovsk Territory.
The Amurskaya cargo ship wrecked and sank near Shantar islands on October 28 as it was delivering gold ore from Kieran port point to the port of Okhotsk in the Khabarovsk Territory.
