MOSCOW, November 25 (Itar-Tass) – Unai Emery, the Spanish chief coach of the Moscow-based Spartak football club has been dismissed from the job, the Director General of the Spartak football team, Valery Karpin told reporters Sunday.
The decision was taken after the team’s most recent most recent loss /1:5/ to Dinamo Moscow.
Shareholders of the club have taken a decision that Unai Emery won’t coach Spartak any longer,” Karpin said adding that the name of a new coach will be revealed in the next few days.
Emery, 41, took reigns of Spartak in June after signing a contract for two years. The team that emerged with a silver from the national championship in the previous season had equally high objectives for the current season but it failed to reach the results much desired by the shareholders and fans likewise under the guidance of the Spanish coach.
Currently, Spartak is occupying the 6th position in the national championship with 29 scores – nine victories, two draws and seven games lost.
In addition, the club’s performance in the European games also leaves much to be desired. It had only one victory in the five games in the Champions’ League, losing another four games.
Emery was a fifth coach on end in Spartak over a period of five years.
