MOSCOW, November 24 (Itar-Tass) —— Opposition Coordination Council (KSO) members will pay fees of 5,000 roubles, according to a decision adopted by it on Saturday, November 24.
The Council will also collect donations through the Internet and direct them to a bank account. “Fees are recommended but not required,” KSO member Vladimir Ashurkov noted.
According to a KSO member and co-chair of the RPR-PARNAS Party, Boris Nemtsov, the funds will be used, among other things, for support to “political prisoners”.
“Who exactly will get it will be decided by the KSO,” Nemtsov said.
Starting in December, some of the Council members will pay 30,000 roubles “in aid to political prisoners”, he added.
The money will be used, inter alia, to pay legal fees. “Reports will be published on who gets and how much and why lawyers get paid so much,” Nemtsov said.
KSO elected entrepreneur Dmitry Nekrasov its executive secretary. Nekrasov is the coordinator of the Committee for Civil Initiative [led by former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin] for Moscow Region. Nekrasov is not a member of the KSO.
According to the adopted regulations, the KSO executive secretary “performs organisational and administrative functions, notifies all KSO members of meetings, collects, summarises and sends to KSO members suggestions regarding the Council’s work, supervises organisational work to create conditions for holding meetings, organises absentee voting, and announces KSO decisions”.
