Russian Football Union president refutes reports on his resignation

Earlier on the same day, Radio Zenit quoted the NTV Plus channel as saying Nikolai Tolstykh had resigned from the post

MOSCOW, November 23 (Itar-Tass) —— President of the Russian Football Union, Nikolai Tolstykh, has refuted reports on his resignation.

“Everything that’s been written about my resignation is sheer untruth,” Tolstykh told Itar-Tass. “I continue performing my occupational duties, although I’ll be on a business trip in the coming few days.”

Earlier on Friday, Radio Zenit quoted a report on the NTV Plus channel as saying Tolstykh had resigned from the post at the Russian Football Union.

A news story the radio put up at its official website said the resignation had been caused by what it called “a systemic crisis in Russia’s national championship.”
