Russia, Italy set to expand cooperation in tourism

A series of consultations with the Italian side has got underway

MOSCOW, November 22 (Itar-Tass) — Russia and Italy may hold cross-years of tourism in the near future.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry has informed us that the Italian side has proposed holding cross-years of tourism. The (Russian) culture minister has already approved the idea that will be equally interesting both in Russia and Italy,” Alla Manilova, the Russian deputy culture minister, told a briefing on Thursday. She said that Italy wanted to present its regions to Russia. “Italy is one of the leaders in the world tourist business. It’s exerting vigorous efforts to attract more tourists,” Manilova went on to say.

“A series of consultations with the Italian side has got underway. The second series of consultations will take place on the sidelines of a major tourism exhibition in Italy in 2013. The experience of cross-years of tourism of Russia and China is going to be useful for us,” Manilova said in conclusion.
