60 Locomotive fans detained near Moscow’s Luzhniki for trying to provoke brawl with Spartak fans

MOSCOW, November 20 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow’s riot police detained more than 60 football fan of the Locomotive team who sought to provoke a mass brawl with Spartak fans near the Luzhniki stadium late on Tuesday, according to an Itar-Tass correspondent.

A group of fans with Locomotive emblems emerged from the Sportivnaya metro station and headed to the Luzhniki stadium where they sought to instigate a brawl with Spartak fans outside the stadium.

Policemen blocked the hooligans and detained them.

According to police, there were no other incidents in the vicinity of the stadium or inside it.

“There match drew about 70,000 fans, including 340 from Spain. More than 3,500 policemen are ensuring public order,” a police spokesman said.
