Investigators exposed another safety deposit box with money and documents

MOSCOW, November 20 (Itar-Tass) —— About 700 million roubles have been seized by police investigating into large-scale theft of federal money under a state contract with Russia’s defence ministry, the press service of the Russian interior ministry reported on Tuesday.

“The ministry’s economic security and anti-corruption department jointly with the military counterintelligence department of the Federal Security Service are conducting investigation into illegal activities of members of an organized group, who are suspected of stealing large sums from the federal budget,” the press service said.

Investigators exposed another safety deposit box with money and documents. “It was registered to the name of a Kisilev who, according to our data, is a nephew of Alexander Elkin, director general of Security and Communications Company. The box contained 5.690 million U.S. dollars, and documents that might be used by investigators,” the press service noted.

Since the beginning of the investigation, the sum total of money and valuables owned by members of the organized group has reached 700 million roubles.
