Yakutsk airport improves services for disabled people

Earlier, people with restricted abilities had been admitted to the zone of a medical service only

GORNO-ALTAISK, November 20 (Itar-Tass) — Yakutsk airport has improved services for passengers with restricted physical abilities. Earlier, people with restricted abilities had been admitted to the zone of a medical service only, while now, all the airport infrastructure has become accessible to such passengers, the press service of Yakutsk airport said on Tuesday.

New elevators, escalators, specially equipped toilet rooms, cafes- all the facilities of the new passenger terminal of Yakutsk airport, which has a status of an international airport, now meet the needs of passengers with restricted abilities. In order to take such people on board the airport was provided with "upstairs walkers" of different modifications, wheel chairs and low bottom runway buses, which made the Yakutsk airport an example of excellent services and care the airport ensures for every passenger.

Yakutsk Airport Director General Andrei Illarionov declared at a presentation ceremony that the new technologies of servicing passengers with restricted abilities and passengers of special categories were developed and put into life in cooperation with the Yakutsk regional department of the All Russia ociety of Invalids.

Deputy labor and social development minister of Yakutia Viktor Kolesov said that Yakutsk airport is the first ever and the only airport in the transport infrastructure of Yakutia where all the necessary technologies and planning requirements for low-mobile passengers are observed, which ensures the airport's accessibility, safety, information supply and comfort.
