Jurors find former Tver region official guilty of attempted 45-million-rouble bribe taking

All the 12 jurors said the defendants did not deserve clemency

TVER, November 20 (Itar-Tass) — A jury at the Tver region court on Tuesday found former head of the Konakovo district Viktor Krysov and his deputy Vitaly Osipov guilty of attempted taking of a 45-million-rouble bribe. All the 12 jurors said the defendants did not deserve clemency.

The court announced recess until December 17, when it is due to meet to consider the consequences of the verdict.

The investigators said the district administration, on the strength of Krysov's resolution, signed a contract of sale of a 8-hectare plot with the Alex firm. The land plot was sold to businesswoman Yekaterina Gladilina. An arbitration court ruled to annul the verdict because Krysov's resolution lacked the instruction to order the district committee for property and land to conclude the treaty with the above economic entity.

Krysov, who knew about the court’s decision, should have filed an action to seize the land plot.”In exchange for a 45-million-rouble bribe, Krysov, by entering in collusion with Vitaly Osipov and /head of the Zavidovo settlement Igor/ Kalachnikov, offered Gladilina not to file this action. Kalachnikov, who acted on behalf of Krysov and Osipov, was detained as he was taking the money,” the SK said earlier.

Kalachinkov is on the Interpol wanted list. He was charged in absentia.
