Port for ocean cruise liners to be built in Sochi in 2013

Statement was made at a working meeting of meeting of Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev and Russian Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky

KRASNODAR, November 20 (Itar-Tass) — A new sea passenger port that will be able to receive all types of ocean cruise liners will be built in the pre-Olympic Sochi by next summer. The statement was made at a working meeting of meeting of Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev and Russian Deputy Transport Minister Viktor Olersky.

In addition, two modern yacht marinas – in the Imereti Valley and in the Central District will be built in Sochi on the Black Sea coast. Then marinas will be built in Gelendzhik, Anapa and in the Tuapse District.

“Opening the Black Sea coast for yachting tourism automatically gives the region a new growth point. This will give the inflow of investment and tourists, the construction of new hotels and restaurants, creating hundreds of jobs,” Tkachev said.

The gGovernor is confident that in the next 3-5 years the Russian coast of the Black Sea “will begin to live in a completely different way.” And the yachts, which are currently abroad, because there is no parking space in Russia, will be here.

“And we for our part are working on the improvement of the regulatory framework so that it contributed to the development of the yacht business in Russia,” Viktor Olersky said in an interview with Itar-Tass.
