MOSCOW, November 19 (Itar-Tass) — Writer Boris Strugatsky, a classic of modern scientific and social fiction, died in St. Petersburg at the age of 79 on Monday, November 19.

Strugatsky stayed in hospital over the last several days and doctors said he was in “grave condition”, his friend Boris Vishnevsky told Ekho Moskvy radio.

Boris Strugatsky created most of his works in co-authorship with his brother Arkady. The brothers gained popularity as the authors of fantastic novels which "raised" several generations of young people. Seven films and a number of theater and TV plays based on their novels were staged.
