Police to check technical order of jeep running down three people to death in Moscow

Woman, who was driving a Honda-CRV jeep, skidded on the oncoming lane and jumped on the walkway, after that she knocked down the pedestrians standing at the bus stop

MOSCOW, November 19 (Itar-Tass) — The police will check the technical order of a jeep, the driver of which ran down three people to death at a bus stop in northern Moscow.

“The scope of investigative actions will be taken, particularly seeking to find whether the car was in a good technical order at the moment of the road accident,” the press service of the Moscow main police department of the Russian Interior Ministry reported on Monday.

The tragedy broke out at 19/38, Onezhskaya Street, on Monday. “The woman, who was driving a Honda-CRV jeep, skidded on the oncoming lane for the unclear reason and jumped on the walkway, after that she knocked down the pedestrians standing at the bus stop. Then the car rammed in the street lamp pylon, as a result the woman was squeezed in the car,” the press service of the police department reported.

Three people died of wounds instantaneously, the driver and another one pedestrian got various wounds.

“The criminal case was opened under Article 264 of the Criminal Code for violation of the road traffic rules and driving of vehicles that caused death of two or more people through negligence,” the press service reported.

Not the owner of the car, but a woman, who was driving the car by proxy, was behind the wheel of the jeep, a source in the law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Monday.

Several media reported earlier that the driver of the jeep was brought to administrative responsibility six times for violations of the road traffic rules. The law enforcement agencies explained that the owner of the car was brought to responsibility, but not a woman, who was behind the wheel of the car at the moment of the road accident. However, the information was not confirmed officially.
