Culprits in flare incident at Dynamo-Zenit match must be convicted — Medvedev

"Those guilty should not go unpunished,” Prime Minister said

GORKI, November 19 (Itar-Tass) —— The culprits in the flare incident at the Dynamo-Zenit match must be convicted, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with the deputy prime ministers here on Monday.

“Those guilty should not go unpunished. They should be imprisoned for such offences,” he said.

This is not an incident, but the crime, the prime minister said. “Moreover, it is a premeditated crime,” he added.

“Such amendments should be drafted for introducing in the legislation that would be targeted at the prevention of such offences. It is obvious that this is not only the work for police, but also the work for the stadium directorate, sport societies and fans,” Medvedev went on to say.

Medvedev recalled that on Sunday he instructed Mutko to work out relevant proposals and instructed the government to supervise this work.

“Such offences should not be taken in the light-minded way. For such offences, which took place, it is needed to put the culprits in prison. This is absolutely obvious,” the prime minister said.

He voiced hope that the police will eventually find the culprits.

“No one should go unpunished,” Medvedev remarked.
