Georgia’s new PM to visit US in late November

TBILISI, November 17 (Itar-Tass) — Georgia’s new Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili will visit the United States in late November, Foreign Minister Maya Pandzhikidze said on Saturday, November 17.

She made the statement after a meeting with U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon.

Ivanishvili made his first foreign visit as prime minister to Brussels on November 12-14 for talks with European Union and NATO leaders.

Ivanishvili received an invitation from official Washington on October 3 but he “asked for the visit to be postponed until after the presidential elections in the U.S.”.

Ivanishvili’s appointment as prime minister was confirmed by the parliament on October 25, 2012.
