VOROVEZH, November 17 (Itar-Tass) — A criminal case is opened in Voronezh over the gas station explosion, which injured six people, the Russian SK investigative department head's aide Sergei Glazyev told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
The accident occurred at a gas station in the city's Novousmansky district on November 14. When fuel was pumped into a tank vehicle, a fire broke out at the site. A 50-cubic-m liquefied gas tank exploded. Ablaze was an area of 350 sq m.
Six people were injured -- three EMERCOM firefighters who began to fight the blaze and three civilians. Four of them were hospitalized, and one, a driver of a fire engine, a day later was taken by a hospital plane to Moscow for treatment in the Vishnevsky special medical centre.
After the explosion, the fire spread to the roof of the nearby constructions, damage to which is estimated at about 30 million rbls, the investigative department official added.
The criminal case is opened on charges of violation of the safety regulations.
