KHABAROVSK, November 16 (Itar-Tass) — The motor ship Provideniye that left the port of Chumikan for Nikolayevsk-on-Amur on Friday is the first to come to Belichy Island of the Shantar Archipelago. The crew will examine the raft found from a BE-200 plane on Thursday, a source at the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk sea rescue centre told Itar-Tass.
It is clearly seen on the photos taken from the BE-200 that an orange life raft is on the narrow shore near a rock on Belichy Island. It is unknown from what ship it is. It will be clear after the examination.
The rescue vessel Rubin that is on the way to the shipwreck site from the port of Vanino will reach the Shantar Islands on the night from Friday to Saturday.
Divers who are aboard the Rubin plan to continue the examination of the rooms of the sunken freighter on Saturday. One dead body was found in one of the rooms on November 9. The identity of the sailor will be established by a genetic examination. The fate of the other eight crewmembers is unknown so far.
Because of the worsening weather, the planned BE-200 flight over the area of the Shantar Islands is cancelled this Friday, a source at the Russian Emergencies Ministry'Far Easterns regional centre said.
Police forces of the Tugur-Chumikan district of the Khabarovsk Territory continue to examine the coast line. Search groups examined 25 km more from the Uda River to the Tyl River on Thursday. More than 250 km of the coast line have been examined since the beginning of the search. Aircraft and ships have examined about 30,000 sq km of the sea.
