MOSCOW, November 16 (Itar-Tass) – Russia’s Interior Ministry has exposed embezzlement of 53 million rubles in the process of implementation of state contracts for the upkeep of military bases, the ministry’s press center said in a report Thursday.
The ministry has detected two state contracts with a joint-stock company OAO Slavyanka totaling 63 billion rubles for a technical and sanitary maintenance of barracks and lodgings on the bases and other facilities belonging to the Defense Ministry.
“The company subcontracted its duties under the contracts to a certain closed joint-stock company ZAO Security and Communications,” the report said. “Since 2011 allocations to the subcontractor for the maintenance and repairs of ventilation systems in the building have reached $ 90 or so million rubles while a major revamping of the facility was completed shortly before that.”
On the face of it, ventilation systems are absent on the aforesaid premises since 2010.
The damage inflicted on the state budget stands at around 53 million rubles, the ministry said.
