YEKATERINBURG, November 15 (Itar-Tass) — The condition of the persons hurt in the leak of a poisonous substance at a factory in the Perm Territory is satisfactory, a spokeswoman told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
"The condition of all the hospitalized persons is satisfactory. Two victims rushed to an IT ward on Wednesday will be transferred to the general ward," Berezniki Town Hall spokeswoman Natalia Verbitskaya said.
The accident occurred at the AVISMA metallurgical production association on Wednesday, November 14. Three persons were killed and another 21 were hospitalized with medium gravity poisoning. There were 58 personnel in the shop as of the moment of the accident.
Criminal proceedings were opened over violations of labor protection rules that resulted in the death of person by negligence.
The investigators said the chlorine unit had developed a leak after an increase in pressure. A special AVISMA commission is looking into the cause of the accident. It has already denied the reports that the leaked poisonous substance was chlorine or chlorine hydride.
