BEIJING, November 15 (Itar-Tass) — Xi Jinping has become a new Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). A decision to elect him to the post was adopted at the first Plenary Meeting of the CPC Central Committee of the l18th convocation here on Thursday. Xi Jinping is heading the core of the fifth-generation leaders.
A new composition of the Permanent Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee has been elected at the first Plenum of the COC Central Committee of the 18th convocation at the National Conference Center in Tiananmen Square here on Thursday.
The Permanent Committee comprises the following seven persons: Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan, and Zhang Gaoli.
The list of the Central Committee of the Party's Political Bureau has been shortened from nine to seven members.
Xi Jinping has been elected a new Chairman of the Military Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. A decision to this effect was taken at the First Plenum of the CPC Central Committee of the 18th convocation here on Thursday.
The task of the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and the Permanent Committtee of the CPC Political Bureau is to rally the Party and the people, Xi Jinping, the new General Secretary of the CPC CC, stated.
"On behalf of the new members of the Permanent Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC CC I'd like to express gratitude to the other members of the Party for the confidence vested in us. We shalll do our best to justify it and accomplish our mission," Xi Jinping said.
The newly elected General Secxxcretary if tge CPC Central Commmittee pointed out that "great responsibility has devolved" upon him and the new line-up of the Central Committee of the CPC Political Bureau. "Our task is to lead the Party and the Chinese people and make tireless efforts towards the prosperity of both the Chinese nation and the whole of mankind," he said.
