IRKUTSK, November 15 (Itar-Tass) — Police and the emergency department have evacuated residents of three houses in Irkutsk due to the bomb blast threat, the Interior Main Directorate press service reported on Thursday.
A large-calibre shell has been found in a package near the dumpster, the press service said.
A resident called to the police control room on Wednesday, November 14. “Special policy bomb experts established that the dangerous trove is likely a 120-mm calibre artillery shell. The bore has tracks of corrosion. Sappers covered it by a special instrument, which blocks up the dispersion of shatters,” the press service said.
Law-enforcers encircled the territory and evacuated 42 residents of the nearest houses, including three children.
“Now we are waiting for specialists from the military unit in Zima to arrive on the ground. The shell will be taken away and destroyed on the special range,” the press service reported.
