ZHUHAI, South China, November 13 (Itar-Tass) — China is showing interest in Russia’s new multirole fighter Su-35, President of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Mikhail Pogosyan told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
Pogosyan is taking part in the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2012) which opened here on Tuesday.
“The Chinese side is showing interest in this jet, as are a whole range of other clients. But we have agreements that we disclose information only upon reaching actual agreements. So, I am not going to comment on the pace of negotiations,” he said.
He did not rule out however that in two years the Russian side will exhibit not a mockup model but an operable Su-35 at the air show in China. “I think in 2014 we will demonstrate state-of-the-art combat air complexes in a demonstration flight at the Zhuhai exhibition,” Pogosyan stressed.
The Sukhoi Su-35 is a single-seat, twin-engined supermaneuverable multirope fighter. It is touted as "4++ generation using fifth-generation technology.
