VLADIVOSTOK, November 13 (Itar-Tass) – Fishery ship Jinpo Maru wrecked and sank in the Pacific Ocean some 40 kilometers away from the Southern Kurile island of Kunashir, the press service of the Far-Eastern regional center of the Ministry for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /EMERCOM/ said.
All the fourteen crewmembers from the wrecking ship have been rescued by the crew of another fishery ship, Yantai Maru, and handed to the border guards.
Jinpo Maru, which is registered in the port of Holmsk on Sakhalin, left for a mission in the fishing area. The wreckage occurred Monday night.
As one of the possible causes of it, EMERCOM experts named an overlap with the sea waves during maneuvers.
At the time of reporting, specialized measures were being taken to handle the situation, EMERCOM said.
