OMSK, November 12 (Itar-Tass) — Eleven passenger buses have been fully or partially destroyed by a nightly fire at the Omsk-based Passenger Transportation Enterprise number one. Noone has been hurt.
According to the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME), the overall area hit by the fire was 800 square metres. The roof collapsed over an area of 150 sq. m..
Alexei Puryshev, head of the press service of the RME center for the Omsk Region, told ltar-Tass, "By the time fire-fighitng teams arrived, the flame engulfed bays with 25 buses. Firemen managed to evacuate a larger part of the buses, as well as petrol trucks."
"Fire-fighting efforts involved 22 fire trucks and 80 firemen. A message about the fire reached the RME center at 03:02, local time. The open-air burning was stopped at 06:23. Inquiry agencies set about investigating into the causes of the fire.
The leadership of the city transport department have already reported that passenger transportation in the city will not be disrupted: the bus services will use additional buses.
