RF embassy in Mexico to deliver mother of dead Russian to homeland

Anton Alferov, who worked as an acrobat in famous Cirque du Soleil, died at hospital on October 28 after “the injuries, which he got as a result of a mental fit in the ward”

MEXICO, November 6 (Itar-Tass) — The consular division of the Russian Embassy in Mexico provides for the delivery to Russia of the mother of Russian citizen Anton Alferov, who died at the hospital in the city Acapulco (western state Herrero) on October 28. The elderly woman, who has serious mental problems, was brought to the Mexican capital, then to Moscow, Russian Consul Andrei Markelov said in an interview by phone on Monday.

“The Mexican migration service gave a major assistance to settle all formalities, which concern the delivery of Svetlana Alferova, a 62-year-old mother of the dead Russian citizen,” Markelov said. Russian Lyudmila Georgiyevskaya, who lives permanently in Mexico, agreed to accompany her from Acapulco to Moscow.

The consul also noted that Alferova will arrive in Mexico by airplane within next few hours. Then, depending on the condition of the woman, it will be decided whether she will be immediately airlifted to the Russian capital, or she will be accommodated temporarily at the hotel.

“Anton Alferov’s acquaintances in the United States voiced a deep gratitude to the Russian embassy for the efforts to deliver the mother of the demised Russian citizen to Russia,” Markelov said.

Alferov, who worked as an acrobat in the famous circus Cirque du Soleil several years ago, arrived in Acapulco with the US passport. At the end of the previous month the police detained him “for violation of the public order.”

According to the preliminary theory, Alferov died at the hospital after “the injuries, which he got as a result of a mental fit in the ward.” “No traces of his violent death were found,” the Russian Consulate reported. The US Embassy deals with the evacuation of the demised Russian citizen.
