An-26 flies from Nikolayevsk-on-Amur to search in coastal zone for missing bulker

Weather does not allow the divers to start the examination of an object that was spotted at the depth of 25 metres and resembles in shape the bulk carrier

KHABAROVSK, November 6 (Itar-Tass) — An airplane An-26 of the Khabarovsk Airlines flied from Nikolayevsk-on-Amur on Tuesday to search through the offshore zone in the Sea of Okhotsk, where the bulk carrier Amurskaya had probably wrecked, the main emergency situation department in the Khabarovsk Territory told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The department reported that the weather does not allow the divers to start the examination of an object that was spotted at the depth of 25 metres and resembles in shape the bulk carrier, which went missing off the Shantarskie Islands on October 28. “The waves are about two meters high now, and the submersion of the divers is banned amid such high waves,” the department said.

The fate of all crewmen from the bulk carrier remains unclear.
