MEXICO CITY, November 5 (Itar-Tass) — Russia will do "an outstanding amount of work" as the G-20 new presiding coutnry and maintain continuity in the Organization's activities, Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena, Mexican Minister of Finance and Public Credit, told a news conference here on Sunday in reponse to a question asked by an Itar-Tass correspondent.
"We are confident that Russia will do an outstanding amount of work as a new presiding country of the G-20 and in this capacity it can always count on support on the part of Mexico," the Minister said. He emphasized that "within the framework of the G-20 informal dialogue", Organization members "come forward with new important ideas of how to achieve an onward and balanced economic development in the world".
Not only Mexico but also France which presided over the Organization last year will participate in the process of handover of presidency to Russia. The representatives of the so-called Troika exchanged views on how to keep continuity on the G-20 agenda, Meade Kuribrena said. "The Russian side was active in the process, due to which the forthcoming handover of presidency to the Russian Federation will be effective, the Minister pointed out.
The Mexican Finance Minister met journalitss within the scope of the G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' meeting that opened here earlier in the day. The meeting is taking place "behind closed doors". Russia is represented at the forum by Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Central Bank Chairman Sergei Ignatyev.
The current G-20 meeting here is the last one in a series of such forum which have been organized by Mexico as the G-20 presiding country. After the meeting is over, the process of handing G-20 presiding powers to Russia will begin. The RF will assume G-20 presidency for a one-year term on November 30.
