MOSCOW, November 4 (Itar-Tass) —— The gas supply in the Shchelkovo district in the Moscow Region, where a branch of the trunk gas pipeline ruptured on Saturday, was restored fully, the Moscow regional emergency situation department told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
“The restoration works on the trunk gas pipeline Oborniki-Shchitnikovo were completed at 09:50 Moscow time on Sunday in the settlement Almazovo. The gas supplies are provided in the routine mode,” the department said.
A branch of the high-pressure gas pipeline Oborniki-Shchitnikovo has ruptured in the Shchelkovo district on Saturday. The 1000-mm gas pipe ruptured, triggering a fire at the countryside community Almaz-1. The gas torch flared up at a height of ten metres, and the fire has spread on the countryside houses.
“17 buildings in several lines were destroyed,” the department said. No people were in the countryside houses on fire. No people were reported dead or injured. The fire has spread on about 600 square metres.
The Russian technology watchdog is inquiring in the incident. The gas leakage could have caused the incident.
