MOSCOW, November 3 (Itar-Tass) —— Moscow expects Tbilisi to take concrete practical steps to normalise relations between the two countries, Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Saturday, November 3.
“Naturally, we have paid attention to Tbilisi’s statements about its desire to normalise relations with Russia and to the relevant appointments, but we expect the new Georgian leadership to take concrete practical steps in the first place,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed that Moscow believes it inappropriate to make forecasts regarding the work of the Georgian prime minister’s special representative for relations with Russia, Zurab Abashidze.
“I think it would be inappropriate to make forecasts regarding Zurab Abashidze’s work,” Lukashevich said. “I can only say that we know him from his work as ambassador in our country and his subsequent trips here. He knows Russia quite well, too.”
