EMERCOM jet delivers consignment of aid to Cuba

The consignment includes, among other things, the construction materials needed for restoration of the Cubans’ houses

MOSCOW, November 1 (Itar-Tass) – A jet of Russia’s Ministry for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense /EMERCOM/ has delivered to Cuba a consignment of humanitarian aid to help the Caribbean insular nation cope with the aftermath of the hurricane Sandy, EMERCOM’s information department said.

“An Ilyushin-76 cargo jet landed at Santiago de Cuba airport at 15:35 GMT,” it said in a report. The consignment includes, among other things, the construction materials needed for restoration of the Cubans’ houses destroyed or damaged by the hurricane.

EMERCOM says it is ready to render other types of assistance proceeding from Cuba’s needs.

“In addition, rescue teams from the Centrospas and Lider emergency assistance centers are fully ready to fly to Cuba” and to join the restoration works there, EMERCOM said.
