MOSCOW, November 1 (Itar-Tass) —— The Russian emergencies ministry has sent an airplane to Cuba to deliver humanitarian aid after a devastating storm Sandy, a ministry spokesman told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
“An Ilyushin-76 plane took off from the Ramenskoye airfield outside Moscow at 23:45 Moscow time on Wednesday,” the spokesman said. The jet has a cargo of building materials weighing 32 tons to restore housing ruined by the storm. The aid is delivered at the request of the Cuban side.
The Russian emergencies ministry said it was ready to deliver other humanitarian aid.
“Apart from that, rescuers from Russian Centrospas and Leader teams are ready to fly to Cuba,” the spokesman added.
