KIEV, October 31 (Itar-Tass) —— The ruling Party of Regions is leading the Ukrainian parliamentary polls after 99 percent of ballots have been counted, the Central Election Commission said on Wednesday, October 31.
It is followed by the opposition Batkivshchina party with 25.44 percent of votes and the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reforms (UDAR) with 13.91 percent. The Communist Party is fourth with 13.21, followed by and the nationalist political association Svoboda (Freedom) with 10.41 percent.
About 99 percent of voting protocols have been processed in majoritarian constituencies. However ballots at 5 out of 13 polling stations in Kiev have so far not been counted. Passions are flying high here as witnesses say that tear gas was used at two of them.
The Central Election Commission said preliminary results would most likely be announced on Thursday, November 1.
