MOSCOW, October 31 (Itar-Tass) —— Police detained 12 participants in an unsanctioned rally in Moscow’s Triumfalnaya Square, a source in the press service of the Interior Ministry’s main department for Moscow told Itar-Tass.
The source said “twelve participants in an unsanctioned rally in Triumfalnaya Square were detained on Wednesday for the breach of public order.” They are taken to police and may face administrative penalties, said the source.
Up to 70 persons participated in the unsanctioned rally covered by some 30 representatives of the mass media and bloggers, said the source.
A source in Moscow’s law enforcement bodies told ltar-Tass earlier that Eduard Limonov, the leader of the Other Russia party; Konstantin Kosyakin, an activist of the Left Front, and Nadezhda Mityushkina, an organizer of the opposition’s protest actions, including those in Bolotnaya Square and in Sakharov Prospect, are among the detained.
Representatives of opposition movements attempt to hold on the 31st day every month a rally in Triumfalnaya Square in support of Article 31 of the Constitution. The Moscow authorities do not permit holding such rallies in Triumfalnaya Square and suggest other places but participants in “Strategy 31” refuse.
