NOVO-OGARYOVO, October 31 (Itar-Tass) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised that the average salary of a doctor will be twice above the region’s average by the year 2018.
“The work for the gradual increase of wages and salaries in the health service is in progress. According to our plans the average wage of a doctor in the region must be twice the regional average,” Putin said at a conference on progress in the implementation of regional programs for upgrading the health service in 2011-2012.
Putin believes that the quality of medical care in the first place depends on the doctors’ level of training, the qualification of other medical personnel, their responsible attitude to their job and to patients. Their work deserves a decent remuneration,” Putin said.
He said one of the tasks of introducing health service standards was to ensure higher sallies of medical personnel on the basis of the principle better work shall be paid for better.
