MOSCOW, October 30 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations plans to send humanitarian aid to Cuba hit by Hurricane Sandy, a source from the ministry’s information department told Tass on Tuesday.
“In compliance with an instruction of the country’s leadership, the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations plans to carry out a relief operation to help the population of the Republic of Cuba hit by Hurricane Sandy,” the ministry source said.
In accordance with a request from Cuba an EMERCOM plane will shortly airlift construction materials for the restoration of damaged houses in Cuba. The ministry “is also ready to offer other humanitarian assistance proceeding from Cuba’s needs,” the source stressed.
