Criminal case opened over ammunition blast in Novosibirsk Reg.

One sapper was severely injured and died there, and another was contused

YEKATERINBURG, October 30 (Itar-Tass) — A criminal case is opened over the ammunition blast in Novosibirsk Region, where a sapper died, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee's main military department told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The criminal case is opened on charges of safety regulations violation that caused death.

During an operation to destroy ammunition on a special ground, the shells prepared to be blown up did not explode, and a group of soldiers with the head of the blasting group went to the site. When they approached, the ammunition exploded. Sapper Eduard Barnakov was severely injured and died there, and another was contused. An investigation into the case is underway.
