KHABAROVSK, October 29 (Itar-Tass) — The telephone hotline was opened on Monday at Nikolayevsk-on-Amur seaport where the Amurskaya dry-cargo vessel that disappeared in the area of the Shantar Islands on Sunday, is registered. The port directorate told Itar-Tass that the information on the search for the vessel is available at 8-42135-22-84 round the clock.
The Amurskaya dry cargo ship carried 700 metric tons of gold ore. With a crew of nine on October 28 the freighter took to sea from the Neran settlement of the Tuguro-Chumikansky district to the Feklistov Island (Shantar Islands group). The vessel had to sail further to Okhotsk. At 14:50, Khabarovsk time (07:50 MSK) on Sunday the ship’s emergency beacon went off.
Ships that happened to be near the point the coordinates of which were transmitted by the radio beacon were immediately sent to the incident area. The Novik tanker, the Ternei and Kapitan Gams fishing vessels were engaged in the search operation during the night. The Be-200 plane of the Far Eastern Emergencies Centre examined with the use of radar equipment the sea area of·3.6 square kilometres.
The search operation in the Sea of Okhotsk continues on Monday, the coastal zone is also being searched.
So far, due to the adverse weather conditions - strong wind, low clouds and poor visibility – the use of aircraft is impossible.
